Beginning with issue #307 (September 1989) the indicia title drops "The" and becomes simply "Avengers". Variants named "Whitman" are a distribution variant arranged in plastic bags known as pre-packs, 3 packs or multipacks and distributed by Western Publishing Company, Inc. Indicia in the "Whitman" named variants has been found to be the same as the base indicia.
