About this series
S.L.A.M. Force ran for 5 issues (2000–2000).
Publishing format: giveaway.
Comics were packaged with Toy Biz WCW S.L.A.M. Force action figures, a short-lived line consisting of only five released figures. Five versions of the comic exist, all are numbered #1 and contain the same front covers, indicia, story and advertising. The issues differ only in the back covers and inside back covers, which contain illustrations and profiles of the respective characters whose figures they were packaged with.
According to Ruben Diaz (https://web.archive.org/web/20241007014014/https://wcwworldwide.com/2016/05/marvel-vs-wcw-comic-art/), credited as co-writer on the story, this grew from ideas for a WCW/Marvel crossover pitched between 1998 and 2000. The WCW/Marvel crossover never happened. Diaz said this mini-comic "served somewhat as a proof of concept" but never materialized into its own monthly series either, despite promos in the issue.
