Howard the Duck ran for 33 issues (1976–1986). Publishing format: was ongoing series. Was replaced by the magazine-sized Howard the Duck (Marvel, 1979 series). There was a large gap in publication between 1979 and 1986 when the series was re-launched in conjunction with the Howard the Duck movie. Variants named "Whitman" are a distribution variant arranged in plastic bags known as pre-packs, 3 packs or multipacks and distributed by Western Publishing Company, Inc. Indicia in the "Whitman" named variants has been found to be the same as the base indicia.
