The Fish Police ran for 12 issues (1985–1987). Publishing format: was ongoing series. Indicia of the first issue through issue 3 lists the title as "Inspector Gill of the Fish Police". Issues 1 [reprint], 4 through 9, and 11 are listed as "The Fish Police". Issue 10 has a joke indicia, "The Leialoha Police." Comico reprinted issues #1-4 of this series in color in The Fish Police: Hairballs (Comico, 1987 series), then from issue #5-11 of this series was also reprinted in color in Fish Police (Comico, 1988).
