Superman's Buddy (1954, DC)

Superman's Buddy ran for 2 issues (1954–1958). Publishing format: one-shot; giveaway. This four-page comic on glossy paper was included with "the OFFICIAL 4-piece SUPERMAN PLAYSUIT" produced by Funtime Playwear (and sold by ANRA INC. according to the coupon). The four pieces were "Superman-style pants, shirt, plastic belt, and cape." The playsuit set also came with: 1. Special Magazine [Superman's Buddy] 2. SUPERMAN Certificate [Supermen of America membership certificate that included the code for "Superman's secret messages" that appeared in issues of Action Comics and Superman during the 1940s through to the mid-1960s] 3. Identification Card [for Superman fan club] Ads for this Playsuit first appeared in c. June 1954 issues of DC comics (e.g., Peter Porkchops #37, June 1954), which sets the date for publication. A reproduction of the 1958 2nd printing was included in the DC Vault (Running Press, 2008).
