Rupert Rabbit's Comic (1940, Allied Authors and Artists)

Rupert Rabbit's Comic ran for 35 issues (1940–present). Publishing format: Was Ongoing Series. In Panel by Panel, John Ryan reports that this series began in January 1947. This is not entirely consistent with other evidence and the first issue was probably a month earlier. The Sydney Tribune reported on 31 January 1948 that this series had folded 'because of newsprint and dollar restrictions'. However, the series continued until at least mid-year. A 1947 newspaper column noted 'We agreed that Rupert Rabbit, a Sydney publication, had some merit. Contributions of all, kinds from the children are encouraged, penfriends arranged, and children's letters acknowledged. The comic strips, however, are of a horribly low standard.'
