Love and Rockets (1982, Fantagraphics)

Love and Rockets ran for 53 issues (1982–1996). Publishing format: was ongoing series. By Gilbert, Jaime and Mario Hernandez. This is volume one. The first issue is an expanded version of the 1981 self-published issue. This series was released erratically over a period of 14 years. After the series concluded, the Hernandez bros. continued their respective storylines in the following: Jaime: "Whoa Nellie" (1996), "Maggie and Hopey Color Special" (1997) and "Penny Century" (1997-2000) Gilbert: "New Love" (1996-97), "Luba" (1998-2004) and "Luba's Comics and Stories (2000-2006) Publication history: Vol. 1- 1982-1996 (50 issues in magazine format) Vol. 2- 2001-2007 (20 issues in standard US comic book periodical format) Vol. 3- 2008-2016 (8 issues as Love and Rockets: New Stories in trade paperback format) Vol. 4- 2016- (ongoing in same oversize format as vol. 1) The series has been retroactively called volume one by the publisher after publication of the subsequent series.
