About this series

Humour ran for 1950 issues (1922–1960). Publishing format: ongoing. Humour was initially fortnightly (1922-1923) and then weekly from the start of 1924 until the end of its run. The subtitle varies over the years, including "A home magazine for men and women" and "The finest selection of the world's wit". This series includes cartoons and comics, along with humorous stories and jokes. While the contents are drawn from publications globally, the series include work by Australian comic artists such as George Roots, Ted Widocks and Carl Lyon. Lyon created 'Tootles', the magazine's first Australian-drawn comic in 1936.
