About this card
The 1-deoxysphingolipids (1-deoxySLs) are a recently identified class of atypical sphingolipids (SLs). They are produced via a non-canonical biosynthetic pathway, and their defining feature, the absence of a C1 hydroxyl group (C1-OH), prevents their further conversion into complex sphingolipids.
