Initially the numbering for this series is in the volume/issue numbering format, with each volume beginning in January and each weekly issue having its own number. In either 1970 or 1971, the series volume re-started in December instead of January. In March 1974, the series numbering system changed so that all issues in any particular month had the same issue number and the four or five issues each month were numbered as sections. With this change, the issue numbering reverted to counting January as the first issue of each volume instead of December. This changed again with volume 33 which started in December 1980, but which continued the volume/issue/section numbering.
In modern Pix, only the first lesson in a quarter has an indicia with the volume and quarterly issue number. Each lesson has a lesson number. Apparently, some time in the early 2000s, they also dropped the date from each lesson.
By 1990s issues range from a minimum of 25% comics to a maximum of 75%. Became mostly reprint material on the comics from the 1960s onward although new adaptation continue to appear from time to time. Some time in the 2010s new adaptations resume. Incorporated comics from other Cook publications sometime in the 1950s (What to Do, Boy's World, Girls' Companion).
