Best Cartoons of the Year ran for 24 issues (1942–1966). Publishing format: was ongoing series; annual. Anthology of best humorous cartoons from preceding year, edited by Lawrence Lariar. A volume for 1961 of this series was not published. Instead, The Best of Best Cartoons, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series, was published October 25, 1961. Sizes of the books varied with the 1942 book estimated at 9.25 in x12.25 in., the 1943 and 1944 books estimated at 9.125 in x 11.75 in., the 1945 through 1956 books at 8.75 in. x 11.25 in., and the 1957 through 1967 books at 8 in. x 11 in. Evidence of multiple book bindings exist for some years with obvious library stamps and markings.
